Tribeca Enterprises, the event organizer of the famous Tribeca annual film festival, has teamed up with crypto exchange OKX to offer passes for special access to screenings, parties, and other perks as non-fungible tokens.
Tribeca Film Festival To Offer VIP Passes As NFTs
In a January 12 press release, Tribeca Enterprises confirmed its successful partnership with crypto exchange OKX to offer VIP passes for its highly anticipated film festival as non-fungible tokens.
Established in 2002, the Tribeca Film Festival is an annual event that showcases a diverse selection of film, episodic, talks, music, games, art, and immersive programming. This year film festival will be on June 7 to June 18, 2023, in New York.
Under the new integration, the Tribeca Film Festival anticipates leveraging crypto exchange OKX functionality to offer exclusive tokenized perks, including special access to film screenings and invitations to exclusive events with the festival’s co-founders, Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro.
The design of the NFT artwork will depict the landscapes of Lower Manhattan, where this year’s festival will take place. In a short interview, Nate Zou, the head of Web3 products at OKX, said that OKX is excited to leverage blockchain to reach new audiences and bring the event into Web3. He added:
“[The Tribeca audience] is perfectly spread across all different demographics – from elder people to younger generations, across all kinds of work. I think they’re a perfect sample for us to educate the general public about this technology.”
Other Cultural Events That Have Adopted NFTs
The Tribeca Film Festival is not the first cultural event to adopt blockchain technology for its utility. Last year, Grammy Awards teamed up with crypto exchange Binance to launch music-inspired NFTs.
In the meantime, the new tokenized VIP Passes are available for purchase through the Tribeca website for $899. Film fans and crypto enthusiasts can purchase the new passes using their credit cards or ether (ETH) through the OKX NFT marketplace.
