If you are looking to attract the largest audience to your Facebook page or ad, whether you are looking to promote your business or service, the single most important thing you can do is ensure that your images are as high quality as possible. This doesn’t mean using an expensive camera.

In fact, all you need to do is make sure that the images you upload to Facebook have the correct dimensions. It’s as simple as that.

There is nothing that will make people click away from your page faster than images that are blurry, stretched, or off-center due to the image being too small or too big.

There are two important things to keep in mind while posting images or links on Facebook: first of all, Facebook continually changes their recommended dimensions and the dimensions shown in the graphic below encompass their most recent changes. Secondly, different dimensions apply to different images or links, so don’t assume that one size fits all.

For attracting visitors to your Facebook page, the image that tends to capture viewer attention the most is certainly the cover photo. And the recommended image size for cover photos is 828x315px. Your Facebook profile photo is also important because it says a lot about your business and who you are as a company. The recommended image size for your profile pictures is 180x180px.

If you want to share an image, the dimensions should be 1200x630px while shared links should be sized at 1200x627px. A video should be 1200x675px. Here is the tricky part. The recommended dimensions are different when you post images or links in your news feed. For example, if you want to share a photo, the dimensions should be 1200x900px, while a link is recommended to be 1200x628px.

Occasionally, you may also want to post an event or a video on your Facebook page. The dimensions in this case are 1200x444px and 1200x675px respectively.
