-Take advantage of live video. Why? Live videos are watched for over 3x longer than an uploaded video, they’re inclusive and help you build stronger relationships with your audience

- Optimise your content for voice search. By next year, 30% of searches will be performed without a screen. Ways to do this include an FAQ page, long form content and use of simple words and short sentences.

– Make video a core part of your marketing strategy. Video should be central to your marketing efforts, with online videos making up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic by 2022 – 15 times higher than it was in 2017! If it’s not part of your marketing strategy, you’re in danger of missing opportunities to engage target audiences.

– Add subtitles to your videos. You’ve probably heard it a million times, but adding subtitles will increase the chances of your video being viewed. After all, 85% of Facebook videos are watched without sound.

– Optimise your video for the channel. We’ve already mentioned that 85% of Facebook videos are watched without sound, however 60% of Instagram Stories are watched with the sound on. It’s always important to take into consideration where you will be sharing your video, so you can optimise your videos for each channel and it’s audience.

– Know your audience. Whether you’re creating a video or writing a blog post, you always need to have your audience in mind, where do they hangout online? What type of content do they engage with most? What tone of voice will they resonate with? Don’t waste time and money creating content that isn’t right for your audience.

– Integrate your marketing channels. To engage your audience effectively, you need to have consistent messaging. This means making sure that your ads are integrated across various platforms.

– Find your focus on social media. Don’t be one of the many businesses who make the mistake of setting up too many social media accounts. Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, you name it, they’ve got it. Do your research and understand where best to reach your target audience – then focus your budget and time there.

– Embed videos onto your website. Why? Google loves video and so do your visitors. Research by Forrester shows that a web page with video is 53 times more likely to rank higher than pages that only present text based content. This suggests that search engines prioritise video results, giving you an SEO advantage.

– Quality over quantity. Always. Relevant in all aspects of life, but especially when it comes to content marketing. Pushing out poor quality content in bulk will reflect badly on your business and can often do more harm than good. Spend time and money (where possible) creating high quality content that represents your brand. After all, less is more.

–Re-purpose your content. Don’t be afraid to share your content again. As long as it’s relevant and up to date, re-purposing your blog and video content will help you reach and engage new audiences.

– Create interactive content. 91% of buyers are looking for more interactive content online. In 2020, content marketing will shift its focus to giving consumers what they want. Be ahead of the game by using shoppable posts, AR/VR, 360-degree video, quizzes, and polls.
