Iconic rap music artists Snoop Dogg and Eminem will perform live at the MTV-sponsored Video Music Awards (VMAs) this Sunday. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT holders will watch this Bored Ape-inspired event live exclusively at the Otherside metaverse.

On August 28, NFT-friendly rap icons Eminem and Snoop Dogg will perform their Bored Ape track on the Otherside metaverse transformed stage. The Otherside is a joint metaverse venture between Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and video gaming giant Animoca Brands.

The global rap icons will perform their latest collaborative single, “From the D 2 the LBC’, live on the Otherside metaverse. The Bored Ape-inspired single marks the first collaboration between the two artists in 20 years for the two to present in the ‘Best Hip Hop’ award.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg are holders of BAYC NFTs. Snoop Dogg recently launched a single called EDM, featuring Esther Anaya in an animated video of Bored Apes and other NFTs. This Sunday, the global rap icons anticipate giving VMAs mainstream exposure to the Web 3 infrastructure through their live metaverse performance.

Interestingly, the team behind VMAs has added a new category dubbed “the Best Metaverse Performance” to its annual awards. The new metaverse category indicates that the metaverse deserves more recognition. Other nominees of the VMAs will include Justin Bieber, Rift Tour (featuring Ariana Grande), and Twenty-One Pilots.

The VMAs anticipate the anxiously awaited metaverse live event will boost its flagship viewership numbers. The VMA reached its all-time peak of 12.4 million viewers in 2011. Since then, the award has seen a steady decline in viewers. The 900,000 viewers currently tuned in live to watch the awards on MTV represent the 8th-year row decline in viewership.

The Otherside Metaverse Overview

The Otherside is gamified interoperable metaverse venture currently in beta launch phase development. The virtual world offers digital title deeds, “Otherdeed NFTs,” representing digital ownership of land plots in the metaverse.

According to litepaper, Otherside will support interoperability in features, giving Otherdeed owners a chance to create their collections and NFTs to life within its metaverse. Data from CryptoSlam confirms that Otherdeed NFTs have topped $1 billion in sales since their debut in June.
