Parents, hide your checkbooks. The One Direction fan army took to social media in preparation for the latest 1D video, “Steal My Girl” which was released Friday at 11:00 am EST on VEVO. The Brit boy band, comprised of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, is a massive international sensation drawing comparisons to The Beatles for the almost fanatical loyalty of their fans.

A statement was posted on their website encouraging mass participation on the music sharing site in order to achieve a viewing record:

“So with the prospect of this literally being the best video EVER, what better way to celebrate than going for the VEVO 24 hour record. That’s right – can we beat Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ with 19.6 million views in one day alone? If anyone can – it’s the best fans in the world”

Whether in school, at work, at home or in between, the group was in the thoughts and tweets of their fans Friday.

The video features an appearance by actor Danny Devito, sumo wrestlers, leopard print suits, gold paint throwing, ballerinas and a chimp.

A 2015 world tour, appropriately named “Back On The Road” will begin February 7th in Sydney, Australia and continue through Asia and Africa. On Wednesday the band announced the European leg of the tour and 17 dates in the United State starting in San Diego on July 9 and ending in Boston on September 12th.

The announcement of the band’s new tour was music to the ears of the tweens and teens who weren’t able to score tickets to the just ended and record breaking “Where We Are Now tour “. Unfortunately, it probably is not so great for the parents who may have to foot the bill, which previously averaged over $130 per ticket.

Last year, the group was predicted by Forbes to become the first boy band worth $1 billion, thanks in part to the tour and their concert film “This Is Us.”

One can only wonder how big The Beatles could have become if only Al Gore had invented the internet 20 years earlier….
