You might be surprised to learn that 60% of Internet access is primarily mobile. It’s true! Many people now use mobile devices to search online for information about products and services. That’s why it’s crucial for businesses, big and small, to invest in responsive websites.

Unfortunately, small businesses have not jumped on the “mobile” bandwagon just yet. As a matter of fact, earlier this year, Marketing Land reported that only “6 percent of SMBs have mobile sites, 45 percent don’t have any site at all“. Bananas right?

What are responsive websites?

In simple terms, responsive websites give users the ability to view content and information about a site on a wide range of mobile devices. Some of the main benefits of responsive websites for small businesses include:

  • Your prospects can view and access your website on various mobile devices
  • The ability to reach the tablet and mobile audience (I can vouch for this one. My blog currently gets around 45% of its traffic from mobile users)
  • You will have only ONE URL to maintain, instead of two: your main website and a separate mobile site for your business
  • Your visitors will have a better browsing experience
  • You will save money by not having to pay for a separate mobile website
  • Better placement in the search engines; Google Loves responsive websites
