Every kid who grew up in the 90’s always enjoyed watching the good old Nickelodeon game shows.

In fact, some of the most enjoyable kind of shows on Nickelodeon were the game shows. There are times that I can’t help but miss these shows, and I’m sure I’m not the only one because there were very popular while they were on the air.

There were a lot of them, but looking back, there are a few that have definitely stuck with us:

1. Figure It Out

This show consisted of one kid at a time having some kind of special talent and a panel of judges that had to try to guess it. The judges had three rounds to try to figure it out.

If the answer was ‘yes’, they could only ask yes or no questions and they were allowed to keep asking questions until they got a ‘no’ answer.

There was also a “Secret Slime Action” when the judges would get slimed and was always one of the highlights of the show.

2. Legends of the Hidden Temple

This was a shorter and kid-friendly version of “Survivor”.

There were six teams, each with one boy and one girl, and they would participate in different events, or “Temple Games”, each time, one team would be eliminated.

It got narrowed down until it was just one team, and that team could go through The Temple Run, which was one of the best parts of the show.

During this part, the team had three minutes to go through the temple and find a hidden artifact.

3. Wild and Crazy Kids

This game was kind of like a fun camp because a couple of teenagers would put together a whole bunch of games for kids such as egg tosses, Slip ‘N’ Slide races, and many more. It was always enjoyable to watch.

4. Double Dare

This was the first game show on Nickelodeon that was a success and basically got the ball rolling for the rest of the shows that followed. Two teams would compete in trivia but if they didn’t know the answer or got it wrong, they could choose to do a dare, double-dare, or a physical challenge.

5. Guts

This is definitely one of people’s favorites. This was the most physical of the game shows and consisted of kids competing in physical events in the “Extreme Arena”.

These shows are great to revisit to relive your childhood or if you did not grow up with them, just to enjoy.

6. Nick Arcade

A revolutionary show for its time, Nick Arcade uniquely combined classic video games with physical challenges.

Contestants competed in popular arcade games to accumulate points, and the final round was a memorable virtual reality experience. The show was a trailblazer in integrating video gaming into a TV game show format, captivating a generation of young gamers.

7. Get the Picture

This innovative game show fused trivia questions with a giant electronic board of puzzle pieces. Contestants answered questions to reveal parts of a hidden picture puzzle on the board.

The blend of quick thinking and visual puzzles made this show both educational and exciting.

8. Global GUTS

An international twist on the original GUTS format, Global GUTS brought together kids from various countries to compete in athletic challenges.

This version added a global perspective to the mix, celebrating diversity and fostering a sense of international camaraderie among its young competitors.

9. What Would You Do?

Known for its unpredictability and audience participation, What Would You Do? placed contestants in various humorous and often messy situations.

The show was a delightful mix of improvisation and interactive challenges, always keeping both the participants and the audience on their toes.

10 BrainSurge

A more contemporary addition to Nickelodeon’s lineup, BrainSurge tested contestants’ memory and mental agility through a series of challenging puzzles and mind games.

The show stood out for its focus on cognitive skills, offering a fun yet mentally stimulating experience for viewers and participants alike.

Final Thoughts

These 10 shows, whether through physical challenges, brain teasers, or creative tasks, not only entertained but also fostered a sense of adventure and teamwork in young viewers.

They hold a special place in the hearts of those who grew up with them and continue to be a delightful discovery for newer generations.

The legacy of Nickelodeon’s game shows lives on, a testament to the timeless appeal of fun, creativity, and spirited competition.
