Comedian Kevin Hart responded to the Sony leak quite deftly (if you ask me), standing up for himself and refusing to let offensive emails between Sony execs bring him down.
Hart is one of many celebrities who was spoken about quite candidly (to put it mildly) in a series of emails between Hollywood producers which were leaked in the recent Sony hack by the Internet by a group “Guardians of Peace.” Hart is specifically mentioned in correspondence between Sony execs Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton and Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper.
In the emails, Culpepper calls Hart a “whore” in response to the actor’s unwillingness to tweet about one of his movies unless the studio paid him extra over his $3 million salary for participating in the film.
“I’m not saying he’s a whore, but he’s a whore,” Culpepper wrote in an email to Pascal and Lynton.
Kevin Hart’s response to the Sony leak was published on his Instagram account Thursday. He wrote:
“Knowing your self worth is extremely important people…I worked very hard to get where I am today,” I look at myself as a brand and because of that I will never allow myself to be taken advantage of. I OWN MY BRAND…I MAKE SMART DECISIONS FOR MY BRAND… which is why I’m able to brush ignorance off of my shoulder and continue to move forward. I refuse to be broken people…with that being said it’s now time for me to get back to building this empire that I’ve always dreamed of!!!”
