We get to do a lot of fun stuff here at Piehead. Whether it’s a microsite, mobile app or a social campaign, we are always pushing the boundaries creating unique and fun consumer experiences. With that, we wanted to share our most recent development project – an Ice Road Truckers Facebook application.
HISTORY has for a while now been producing fantastic series, including Pawn Stars, American Pickers and more. Ice Road Truckers is now entering into its 6th season and while the crew pushes even further north into Alaska, the ice is thinner than ever due to a mild winter (-60 is considered mild, who knew!).
The fascination around these truckers and their near death experiences has a great online experience for consumers to show their love for the show at HISTORY’s Ice Road Truckers fan page. We developed the IRT Facebook app to give these passionate fans more activities to engage with, most notably the ability to create your own license plate with trucker name and all. I happen to have picked “Leadfoot Barbierri” (see pic above).
Other activities include being able to watch new episodes On Demand, a fortune telling from the spirit of the Truckers, vote for your top trucker tunes and, finally, the ability to see profiles of the show’s truckers.
