Actress Hilary Duff dishes on what Lizze McGuire would be doing today in 2014. In an interview with Buzzfeed, the now 27-year-old actress and mother shared her opinion on what her famous character would be up to as an adult in her late 20s.
According to Duff, she doesn’t believe Lizzie and her guy pal Gordo (played by Adam Lamberg) would have ever became an item.
“I don’t think she’d be married to Gordo. I don’t know. I think she’d go off to college and potentially become a little cooler than she was, but still not bitchy at all. I think she’s just the biggest-hearted girl ever.”
Duff also believed that Lizzie would spend some time working at an office cubicle somewhere in New York and that her always overprotective parents would secretly follow to keep an eye on her.
Apparently, Hilary Duff and Lizzie McGuire also have a lot in common. On the show the latter was known as being a klutz and accident-prone. Duff maintains that she is just as clumsy and has multiple scars on her limbs due to careless mishaps like cutting herself with a butter knife while slicing an English muffin.
While the actress revealed that she no longer keeps in touch with any of her TV family and friends from the show, she insists that they all still have a very special place in her heart.
Lizzie McGuire was the show that propelled Hilary Duff to fame. The iconic character along with her animated alter ego quickly became America’s sweetheart during the show’s run from 2000 to 2004. The popular Disney show lasted for two seasons followed by a movie release to cap the series. The entire franchise was a mega hit among tween girls and basically became a model for subsequent Disney and Nickelodeon shows that inspired girl power.
