Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor, wife of Shashi Tharoor, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development has been found dead in Delhi’s plush The Leela Palaces Hotel in Chanakyapuri. She had checked in with her husband on Thursday and was found dead on Friday evening, reports NDTV. The exact details of the time and what caused her death are yet to be known.

As per the sequence of the event reported by NDTV, the minister tried opening the door of the bedroom at 8:30 PM after returning from the day long conclave organised by the Congress party. When she didn’t open the door to her bedroom, he asked the hotel staff to help him enter the room, only to find her lying dead on their bed.

The sudden demise of Sunanda adds up to the latest controversy that had surfaced recently which involved the husband, wife and desperate stalker who happens to be Pakistani columnist Mehr Tarar (and an ISI agent if Sunanda is to be believed).

To remind you, the entire controversy started with few weird tweets that were being sent from Shashi’s Twitter account. Then it was told that the account had been hacked but only to be known later that the hacker was Shashi’s wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Sunanda confirmed to ET that she had posted the messages on her husband’s Twitter account and that her Twitter account had not been hacked. The intention of posting from her husband’s account, intimate private messages sent to him by Lahore-based journalist Mehr Tarar was to show the world “how she is stalking my husband”.

The entire controversy had been the talk of the country for past few days. Things looked to settle a bit when Sunanda and Shashi Tharoor issued a joint public notice on the entire episode on Facebook. The couple then had asked for privacy from the media but then the sudden death of Sunanda has left the entire issue wide open. The opposition in the minister’s state, the Communist Party of India has already demanded a detailed inquiry in the matter. Sources are also telling that it could be a case of suicide.

The Twitter world is still digesting the news of her sudden demise as she continues to trend both on Twitter and Facebook.
