Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Flipboard 0 Let’s say you’ve just finished a video – great job! While videos can tell great stories and can be full of content you should never just post a video online – consider adding it to a blog post. This way you’re sending traffic to your own site and you can control what else displays with your video, e.g. complimentary content, calls to action, etc. Best thing of all? It’s easy to do! Here are three easy ways to use your videos in blog posts. 1) Summarize Writing a brief (200-300 words) recap of the content covered in your video. It doesn’t have to be a complete rehashing, but you can write something that goes along with the content you share in the video, and then introduce the video itself – something like “For more about this particular topic, watch the video below!” Make the blog post support the video. For a good example, check out this simple product summary post by FlexPAC. 2) Transcribe Transcribing your video is an easy way to add more content to your blog post, especially for those who would rather read the information from your video instead of watching it. Of course we’d recommend adding an introduction to your post before the transcription so it’s not all copy and paste. Fundraising software platform Bloomerang does a great job of this with their BloomerangTV posts. In fact, this method works best with a podcast or a longer form video. 3) Elaborate If your video didn’t cover everything you wanted to talk about, then you can always add on in your post. For example, in our video series, Media for Hire, we often tell two stories at once, making it difficult to cover every detail of each. So, we make sure to elaborate on the stories in a blog post. Adding extra info is a great way to give your audience a deeper look into the stories you’re telling. And don’t forget to add a CTA (call to action) to the end of your video blog post to keep your visitor moving along the path to a deeper connection with you.
