Police in Washington D.C. say CBS sports analyst and former NBA player Greg Anthony was arrested on Friday night and charged with soliciting a prostitute. Lt. Kelvin Cusick confirmed the arrest to The Associated Press and said that Anthony was charged with a misdemeanor for solicitation, a charge punishable by up to 180 days in jail.

Though Cusick said that the 47-year-old sports analyst was released on Friday evening, no further details were available. Anthony’s trip to D.C. may have been due to a Michigan State-Maryland men’s basketball game he was scheduled to host nearby on Saturday night.

Anthony is an 11-year NBA veteran himself and played for 6 different teams throughout his career including the NY Knicks, the Vancouver Grizzlies, the Seattle Super Sonics, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Chicago Bulls, and the Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 7.3 points per game throughout his career, during which his served primarily as a backup point guard.

After retiring from the NBA in 2002, Anthony became a popular commentator for ESPN and ABC Sports, until joining CBS Sports in 2008.
