I know there have been several studies on this topic, but from my experience you really need to think about the start of the day and the end of the day and with who you want to connect with.
We connect with people across the globe and once you figure it out, you begin to see that connecting with people globally can be a worthwhile experience.
Now, during the regular business day, I will connect with people regarding business-related tasks. In the evenings and mornings I really like to connect with others who perform some of the same marketing tasks that I do. With that being said, check out these different times of the day and the people I connect with.
Early Morning
I like to get on twitter and talk about marketing topics with my friends in Europe between the hours of 6-8.00am central in the United States. Europeans understand this and are awesome people to connect with. Talking about something I posted on a blog site is one of my tasks I try to do each day.
Start of the Business Day
I like to post and talk about business items on the hour from 7-9.00am central. This way I can connect with people in the midwest and on both coasts. I have found that the early-morning risers are usually the most active people on Twitter.. There are a number of reasons for this. Here are two.
- Most people want to tell people about their blog posts first thing in the morning to be sure to get on everyone’s radar for the day.
- You can have a quick conversation with that first cup of coffee.
Lunch Time
The next best time for me is 12-1.00pm central. . This is a very short time. You can see what people have posted and respond back and add a few items.
End of the Business Day
I like to check back closer to 5.00pm central, give or take 30 minutes. Here again, you can gauge progress and see if you missed out on anything during the day.
Late Evening
Finally, I like to check back between 9-10.00pm central. This time of the day, you will see a lot of different people online and you will be able to make one final connection for the day. Also, the Aussies are just waking up and are posting their news for the day. A great time to connect with these people.
As I always say the best time to get on Twitter is when you make time to do it. I only leave you this information as a result of my experience. This is what works for me. Your routine may be quite different than mine, that is ok. The best thing to do is get into a routine to be effective. What times do you find that work best for you and your Twitter experience.
