Your B2B company should be using Twitter for a lot of reasons. For one, Twitter is a constant way for you to communicate information with current and potential customers. If you know how to use Twitter effectively, you will have a competitive edge over other businesses that don’t know or don’t care about this great tool. And like most social media tools, it’s free! Twitter allows you to maintain relationships with customers without spending a lot of money.
Twitter has recently undergone a few changes that will make searching, finding and connecting easier than ever. Here’s a closer look at the changes that were made and what they mean for your Inbound Marketing efforts!
Easier search functions
The first change that has been made has to do with the search functions. Like Google, Twitter has added an autocomplete function. This function will guess what Twitter believes you are searching for, whether that is a person or hashtag. The results will include people that you already follow and those that you don’t.
Autocorrect and search suggestions
Along with this autocomplete function, there will be spelling corrections for words that have been spelled incorrectly. This makes searching for new people/topics less of a hassle, since you don’t have to worry if you have spelled a name or title correctly. Once you have completed your search, Twitter will give related topics that you might be interested in. If you searched for a specific topic of interest, your search results will include something or someone else you might be interested in following.
New search filter
Another new search feature is the option to filter your search results to “People you follow.” Before this change, there were only “Top” and “All”, which made it hard to find specific tweets you were looking for.
Easier people search
Have you ever searched for a friend by their name and not been able to find their profile? That won’t happen anymore! The new Twitter search will find people based on their Twitter name and their username, even if they are different.
So what do these changes mean for you? First, it means that you can search people who are involved in the type of business that your B2B would like to connect with. You can search a keyword related to your business, and the descriptions of other profiles will be scanned. If you find someone with a description matching your search, you can follow these people and begin to connect. These changes also mean that prospective clients can search for you much easier than before. By making your profile keyword rich and tweeting regularly, you will be more likely to appear in search results when someone is looking for the product or service you offer.
