Admit it. You have a tab with YouTube open right now in your browser, don’t you?

Don’t feel too bad because you’re not alone. According to data pulled together by ATTSavings.com on the viewing habits of U.S. workers, 64 percent of workers admit to watching videos while at work. Even more interestingly, 37 percent of those who admitted to watching videos at work didn’t care if they were caught. In the words of the late Michael Jackson, “Who’s bad?”

But this indulgence in leisure isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Studies have shown that workers who take breaks to browse the web actually end up being more productive.

Here are a few numbers to chew on with regard to workers watching videos:

  • Most workers watch online videos between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
  • 27 minutes a day is the average amount of time a person spends watching online videos
  • Workers spend 6 percent of their workday watching videos
  • Online video watching is up over 7 percent last year

So if your boss gives you a funny look when he catches you on YouTube checking out the latest viral video sensation, just explain you’re maximizing your productivity potential to the fullest.
