The thing about destroying productivity is that you barely have to try to make it happen. Our world has become inundated with ways to thwart productivity, and many of these faults lie in bed with your everyday work habits. One of the most surprising things to be found from this infographic is that a study from The British Institute of Psychiatry showed that checking your email while performing another creative task decreases your IQ in the moment by 10 points – which is the equivalent of not sleeping for 36 hours. When you think about it, how often does this happen in your everyday life? Even reading this article right now, you’re probably doing a combination of these productivity destroyers that will hinder you from even reaching the end of this sentence.

Some of the productivity destroyers seem like no brainers, but when we’re incessantly being hounded on all fronts to multitask and finish as many objectives as humanly — or inhumanly — as possible, it’s easy to let things slip through the cracks, and wallow in our ineptitude to finish tasks. What we end up doing is starting a multitude of tasks at once. With each subsequent task throwing a wrench in our productivity wheelhouse. Older tasks become buried under the weight and stress we continue to pile on. Leaving us spinning our wheels at times, mindlessly switching from email, blogs, news, sports, social networks and chats. If you want to know how to keep those productivity killers in top form, check out this infographic below.
