Location
This photo was taken from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. I love the Promenade especially during the summer months. It’s a great place to sit back and enjoy the New York City skyline. Almost at the very southern-tip of Manhattan is the Staten Island Ferry and the Governors Island Ferry.
Both terminals are busy during the work week. But the Staten Island Ferry is a bit more busy since it operate 24 hours a day. And unlike the Governors Island Ferry — the Staten Island Ferry is the main transport from Staten Island into Manhattan.
Workflow
The is a single exposure RAW image. And I purposely added grain to the photo. After working on it within Lightroom 4.1. I noticed that this photo reminded me of a black and white. And I found it rather plain — to be honest. So I gave both terminals a pop of color. But then almost without thought — I increased the amount grain as well as the size of the grain.
I think that my decision works well with this photo.
Question
Do you think that the grain in this picture works? Or do you think it is rather plain?
