BeReal is here to outwit its opponents potentially. BeReal app is the most popular app on the App Store right now. The app has exploded in popularity recently, particularly among younger demographics, with a #1 ranking in social networking. BeReal is a French social media app created by Alexis Barreyat, a former GoPro employee.

The app was released in 2019 and has spent most of its time in the shadow of social media behemoths such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. However, 2022 marks its breakthrough in the world of social networking. Currently, the app has over 2.93 million active users and 7.67 million downloads.

According to Apptopia, the app’s popularity has increased by 300% since 2021. Its popularity shows no signs of abating any time soon.

BeReal App Gives Users a Unique Social Media Experience

Unlike most other social platforms, the app does not have a user interface that allows you to scroll indefinitely. Rather than providing a safe haven for its users to present the best version of themselves, BeReal focuses on showcasing your reality—with all of its flaws. It motivates you to be human.

BeReal, a cultural theorist and brand consultant, says of himself: “It’s like humane technology. [BeReal] tries to free us from what we’re trying to get away from, but they still manage to hook us in various ways. It’s both refreshing and ironic, in my opinion.”

BeReal’s One Photo Per Day Has Stormed Social Media

The app limits when and how many photos can be posted daily. At the time of writing, users are only allowed to post one picture per day, and only at specific times. The algorithm will randomly send a notification to the user every day between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., informing them that it is their turn to post a picture.

According to the notification, “It’s time to BeReal. There are only 2 minutes left to capture a BeReal and see what your friends are up to.” When they click on the notification, they are redirected to the app’s camera function and asked to take a picture and post it within 2 minutes.

A timer will be visible on the screen to inform users of their remaining time. You can retake the picture as many times as you want in under 2 minutes, but keep in mind that if you haven’t posted the picture by the time the timer hits the 2-minute mark, you will have missed your opportunity to post for that day. The caption could be added later. A user can choose to post it on a private page where only friends can see it, or on the “discover” page, where it is visible to all users.

Despite the design’s limitations, teenagers have embraced the exciting challenge with open arms. Most people would agree that its distinct user interface, which does not necessitate endless scrolling and posting, makes it preferable for private relationships rather than random connections.
