XBox One Summary:

The Xbox One is marketed more as the ultimate entertainment platform, rather than the ultimate gaming machine. Despite this, the Xbox One should pack roughly just as much punch as the Playstation 4 in terms of Hardware capabilities. In fact, Microsoft touts 15 exclusive gaming titles for the Xbox One at launch.

With all that why wouldn’t they focus on Gaming. Well, they’re not putting gaming on the backburner, they are just trying to get an XBox in EVERY home. That includes your non-gaming granny, uncle and cousin. If they could, they’d replace your cable box completely…and they just might.

One of the biggest controversies has been the issue of used games. Microsoft is intending to have a very controlled approach to sharing used games on the XBox One. With the use of DRM (Digital Rights Management) they will limit the ability to share games and make you pay a certain fee.

The other limitation to the XBox One is that it will require you to connect via the internet atleast once every 24 hours to be able to use it.

PS4 Summary:

Unlike the Xbox One the PS4 is emphasizing the Gaming capabilities and treating any entertainment capabilities as additional features. Besides the beefed up hardware capable of handling any of the great Next Gen hits, the most controversial change has been the touchpad on the controller. Unlike the XBox One, PS4 says it will allow people to “freely” share their games as allowed in previous consoles.

A major disappointment for PS4 owners would have to be the release date and the fact that they will now need to pay to use multiplayer via a PS+ subscription.
