WiFi

We are ever hungry for modern technology and our love for it is hardly satiated. The more technology and devices are invented, the more we are falling in love with them. It is as if our appetite for more updated life, for better communication and for more modern technology is never going to be satisfied.

When Wi-Fi was invented, 14 companies agreed to pay The Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) the amount of $250 million for infringements of patent. At that time, they surely had not anticipated Wi-Fi to become so much a part of our daily life in such a short time.

Now, even when someone is cruising or checking in a hotel, the first thing they look for is free Wi-Fi access. How Wi-Fi is changing the healthcare sector is already a well known fact. In fact, Wi-Fi is creating revolution in building a city. A smart city has to be Wi-Fi enabled for better living of the citizens.

Now experts are predicting how Wi-Fi will define the next-generation communication and experience with technology. No doubt that if Wi-Fi can become such relevant in our living, then it will cross all boundaries of our anticipation.

According to the report of Business Insider:

  • The global internet traffic that comes through Wi-Fi is 50%
  • The contribution of cellular network in this traffic is 3%

From the above fact it is evident that Wi-Fi is shaping up modern communication. And cellular network needs to be more updated to maintain this connectivity.

Wearable Wi-Fi will rule the world

With every passing day, we are looking for more updated devices, but in portable forms. Quite logical it seems, because if you are traveling and want to stay connected, you surely need Wi-Fi.

But what if the place you are in don’t have Wi-Fi access? Or worse, when you are out on expedition, how will you stay connected with the world? Of course, you can’t afford to lose all contacts and stay in exile for days. During such a situation, wearable Wi-Fi will come to your rescue. Keeping this in mind, UCLA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has invested their 2 years research to make a portable device that is wearable and will offer free Wi-Fi anywhere the user wants.

The most important thing is that the users who want to use it won’t need a transmitter with the device. Instead, this portable device will tweak and reflect the bouncing waves around us. The speed of data transferring through this device is 3 kbps. Right now it can work only over 8 feet. Research is on to help it cover even a greater distance.

But the vigorous effort of the researchers are quite promising. And in the tough market of competition, it is obvious that as more time passes, this trend of making portable devices for Wi-Fi will be in vogue. And the users worldwide would be greatly benefited by this.

Relief from repeatedly entering user id and password

In a Wi-Fi zone, it’s really difficult to enter user ID and password time and again. In fact, it becomes a bit irritating at times as well to repeat the same action quite a few times. But thanks to the researcher for Next Generation Wi-Fi Hotspot(NGH) that is going to provide relief from such inconvenience. Once a user enters the Wi-Fi zone, it will enable him to access the network. But he will be free from entering the id and password. This technology will redirect him directly to the network.

This technology makes it easier to switch the network as well. And it makes the user happy because he doesn’t need to sign in every time.

Cities are trying to build reliable Wi-Fi network

Cities are trying to provide more modern set ups. Offering free public Wi-Fi is a part of this plan. But the biggest problem with public Wi-Fi is that it is not reliable at all. There are always high chances of the network being hacked and that leads to bigger threats like identity theft. Any intruder can get access into your personal files and manipulate them.

A few cities, such as Perth, Tel Aviv and others have already tried successfully to build a reliable Wi-Fi at urban and downtown areas. Such developments are extremely useful, not only to the residents, but to the tourists as well. In fact, it is fast becoming one of the highlights for attracting the tourists.

Community Wi-Fi

Planning is on to connect each house with Wi-Fi. It will happen only if the users agree to give away their spare unused percentage of Wi-Fi. This will also reduce the charges of mobile data as well. Community Wi-Fi will be a revolution in the world of communication. But to make it a reality, the providers should take care of the quality as well. Constant and unfailing network is the only hope that will make it possible. At the same time, public Wi-Fi also needs to become more secure.

The crux of the thing is that the more facilities are given to the user, the more they will be pleased. And since we are enjoying every latest technological achievement, the developed future of Wi-Fi will only contribute to satisfy this thirst.
