Recently, I was playing around with Amazon’s Instant Video feature, and came across one of my most favorite aerobics videos by Jane Fonda. I was so excited, I purchased it immediately.

After I made the purchase, I was given the option to download the Instant Video to my Kindle Fire.  So, being the curious human being that I am, I did. That was a big mistake. It took up all of my storage space – giving me a message that said,

Critically Low Storage: Your Fire is out of storage space. In order to continue to download or copy content to your Fire, please remove some apps or content files. Wireless functionality and USB file transfers have been turned off until there is more storage space available.”

It then prompted me to click on ‘Not Now’ or ‘Storage’. I clicked on ‘Storage’ and deleted some things I no longer used, and moved my Kindle books from my device to the Cloud Storage.  Yet, no matter how much stuff I deleted and moved, it still gave me that same message when I tried to turn on my Wi-Fi.  I couldn’t read my email, my calendar stopped syncing, I couldn’t use Facebook, Twitter or Instagram – and as you may imagine, that is a big issue for me.

I looked everywhere on my Kindle for a way to remove the downloaded video, however there seemed to be no option. So, I logged into my Amazon account to see how to delete the Instant Video, but there appeared to be no way.

I did a Google search on removing an amazon Instant Video from a Kindle. None of the results showed me how to remove it from my Kindle Fire, but Google did return an Amazon forum thread, “How Do I Remove A Free Video From My Video Library?,” whose URL I will include in my next post, “How to Remove An Amazon Instant Video From Your Video Library.”

I don’t know what I was thinking, but I actually proceeded with some of the steps in the thread – hoping this would lead me to removing the Instant Video from my Kindle. However, after following these steps, I actually removed the Instant Video from my Amazon Video Library, but not my Kindle. Ouch!

I actually had to go to Amazon’s help center and request a call from their support team. Someone from Amazon called me immediately, and told me how remove the Instant Video from my Kindle. He also restored the deleted video to my Video Library. He did all of this in under five minutes. (Way to go Amazon!)
