The recent announcement of tax breaks for the UK gaming industry is expected to see an explosion in the numbers of people working within it.

After the introduction of tax breaks for the UK film industry in 1997, the workforce increased by 10,000 people (30%), an upswing that will be replicated by a UK games industry that is already worth almost £1 billion to the UK.

Consequently, there will be challenges for the industry such as recruitment, talent and raising the numbers of women employed in the industry (presently less than 10%).

To that end, TIGA, the trade association that represents the UK games industry, has published a Best Practice Guide: Recruitment & Selection in the Games Industry featuring input from some of the UK’s top games studios including Jagex, Blitz Games Studios and Lionhead Studios.
