Yes? Don’t worry. You are not the only one. Just 5 years ago no one thought that computers would give us chills.
There are more and more people becoming technophobic. It is an epidemic and has a grip on people all over the world – age, culture, background, no matter! (Technophobia is the fear or dislike of advanced technology or complex devices, especially computers. –Wikipedia). As technology is advancing in leaps and bounds, more and more people are scared that they are not going to fit into the modern workplace. Some are really worried and some are hoping to “roll with the punches”. Many would like to learn, but even learning has gone the “e-way”.
While technology lovers (mostly generation Y) are pushing from one end, the haters (mostly generation X) are dodging it fiercely in a fear that their ignorance may be noticed. Technology “haters” are the most dreaded kind in the modern workplace and sometimes they can hold back company progress if in a higher position.
So, while the “haters” are hoping that this “new generation” will take their place after they retire, think again.
The “know everything’” kind is coming, and the “old style gang” is not going anywhere; at least not voluntarily.
If you are the “hater” It may be a good idea to face a new challenge and motivate yourself to learn through the use of technology. The bottom line, the modern technology is here to make life easier. A small effort can go a long way toward making the way you communicate with others much easier.
If you are a “lover”, give a “hater” a minute; allow them to commit mistakes while handling technology, that way they can get rid of their fears.
Which one are you?
