The Broncos have won 17 straight regular season games and in Payton Manning’s old house they are 6.5-point road betting favorites with a total of 55.5. The Broncos and the Chiefs are the last 2 undefeated teams in the league and while the Colts lost their last game they are still in first place in the AFC South.
Andrew Luck did not have the best Monday night game in the loss to the Chargers, but his WR’s did not help out with many dropped balls. This week Luck will be facing a Broncos’ pass defense that has really struggled this season.
While the Broncos have the worst pass defense in the league they have the best run defense.
In their last games the Clots lost to the San Diego Chargers 19-9 on Monday night and while the Broncos did not look that sharp they still beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-19.
Luck has a cou0ple of solid WR’s in Reggie Wayne (454 yards 2 TD) and T.Y. Hilton (385 yards 2 TD) and they may have big games facing a Denver secondary that has given up many big plays this season. It is key that the Colts are not plagued by drop balls like they were in the San Diego game.
Indianapolis ranks 9th in the league in rushing yards per game, but last week they could not get the ground game going with only 74 yards. Trent Richardson has a big job facing Denver and their top ranked run defense.
Payton Manning leads the NFL in passing yards and while he does only have 2 INT they have both come in the last couple of games. Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, and Wes Welker lead the deepest, and perhaps, the best WR trio in the NFL. Indy has a legit pass D ranked 5th in the league, but their pass rush is mediocre at best with 17 sacks in 6 games. If the Colts’ cannot pressure Manning in the pocket they may be in for a long game.
RB Knowshon Moreno has been solid this season and he will be key in taking some pressure off Manning and the passing offense. He is not only a good RB, but also a solid pass-catching one and he had 61 yards in the air in the Jacksonville win.
Manning is obviously the big gun on offense for the Broncos, but they may want to ride Moreno since the Indianapolis run defense ranks 2nd to last in the league.
In some betting trends for this AFC match up the Broncos are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games, 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall, and in their last 9 road games they have an Over record of 7-2. Some handicappers love the Broncos while others are thinking that the Luck is not about to run out.
The Colts are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record, and in their last 16 home games they have an Under record of 12-4.
