The experts are weighing in and while it’s no Shocker to see Syracuse, Michigan, or Louisville in the Final four it certainly is to see the Wichita State Shockers heading into the final four weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. Most experts had no premonition of them making it this far. A recent Yahoo sports news report revealed that the best predictors of this years Brackets came from a developed algorithm created by tout Mike Rosen over at UBS according to this article who decided to use mathematical algorithmic choices based off of statistics to determine who would win each game of the tournament.

Now, the experts can weigh in on who they like for their 2013 final four picks and without further adieu we prevent you with a preview for this weekends games:

From a handicapping and betting viewpoint every team is solid and there is no extreme advantage that one team has over another. We have the top seeded team in the tournament still alive and well (Louisville) and they are playing the lowest seed left (number 9 seed) and the Syracuse Orange vs. Michigan Wolverines game pits the two number 4 seeded teams remaining.

Louisville Cardinals Final Four Preview

The Cardinals being the best team remaining and losing their star guard to probably one of the most devastating injuries ever shown on live television last Sunday are 23 and 15 against the spread over the last season. Since 3/2/2013 they have covered the spread in 9 of their last 10 games. The exception being a 11 point favorite against Oregon in the sweet 16. Over the last year the Cardinals have had a slight tendency towards hitting the proverbial “over” at 18-14 so far. That tendency has been growing as of late. They have gone over the total in each of their last 8 games. In other words, dont mess with Pitino and this team as they are on fire.

Michigan Wolverines Final Four

Going 18-16-1 against the spread would equate to them being the lowest dollar value team to wager on over the last season. At neutral sites however they are 8-1 ATS and that includes their 4 wins and pre-season NIT. After a very impressive last minute shot to send the Kansas game into overtime shows that they are persistent and will not give up. They have what is quite possibly the best offense in the country with a solid defense. 21 out of 35 games have gone over.

Syracuse Orange NCAA Tournament Stats

The Syracuse Orange have been a very solid 20-15 ATS on the year. While this isn’t Lousiville numbers they put up for their fans it has been enough to eek out a small potential profit during the regular season. They have covered in 3 out of their 4 tourney games except for the California contest they were the favorites with a -7.5 line against them but yet they won by only 6 points.

Syracuse Orange

The Orange are a solid 20-15 ATS on the year — enough for a small profit on the season. Unlike the previous two teams, though, they were at their best at home where they were 10-5 ATS. They were just 4-6 in true road games. And despite going 5-2 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games, they were just 6-4 ATS in neutral-site games on the season. They have covered three of their four tournament games, with the only exception being the California contest — they were favored by 7.5 but won by six. Syracuse played very strong in the Big East tournament and has not let up since.  Jim Boheim is one of the best coaches in the NCAA and has the experience of winning a national championship. Watch for this to be  a big threat and a changemaker in where the lines end up right before tipoff happens.

Wichita State Shockers

The Shockers have been well Shockers to all of the squares betting on the bracketology while the Sharps have profited on their 19-14-2 against the spread record. Throughout their impressive tourney run the Shockers have covered the spread in every game since they were underdogs in 3 out of the 4 outtings and will be for this game and even with a win would be in the finals. The total is nearly impossible to pick with Wichita so remember anything is possible when there is just one game on the line.
