It appears that Mercedes-Benz has added yet ANOTHER hurdle for participation in their promotion ‘Tweet Race To The Big Game”.
According to a story on Mashable, now, after you apply on line via their Facebook page (using your Twitter account for registration) they will whittle down the entrants to an undisclosed group of semifinalists.
Those chosen few will then be asked to create a short video telling why they should be chosen for the race!
And, once they are chosen they have multiple hurdles to jump as part of the competition (see: A Super Social Media Contest)
All this for a chance to win a BRAND NEW CAR!
One thing is for sure – Mercedes will have four race teams that are telegenic, articulate, socially savvy with a lot of followers. This could make for some interesting viewing – especially if they enlist Phil from The Amazing Race as the emcee.
What it won’t do is involve thousands of participants competing with each other in an attempt to drive brand recognition for Mercedes. Will you be following the progress of any of the teams?
This is more of a show than a contest.
Your thoughts?
