Social Shopping and Brand Engagement High on the Agenda for Retailers at SMWF 2012

Social shopping, and how recommendations and reviews are impacting on consumer buying decisions, is allowing brands to tap into the new breed of social shoppers to create better levels of engagement. As a result social shopping is a key topic at this year’s SMWF Europe event.

The Social Media World Forum (SMWF) has announced the line up for their dedicated Social shopping track taking place on 27th March at Olympia 2.

The workshops will provide top tips on how to plan media campaigns to engage social shoppers, exploring the impact of recommendations and reviews on consumer buying decisions as well as showcasing success stories and the potential pitfalls of social commerce campaigns.

Ian Johnson, MD of Six Degrees who run SMWF said “Maximising the potential of social shopping and monitoring the ROI of their social media campaigns is an important issue for retailers. It’s particularly interesting to see how brands and retailers can incentivise reviews and positive word of mouth.”

Social shopping speakers include:

  • Simon James, Head of Shopping, Moneysupermarket.com
  • Charles Yap, Director, Global Brand Communications, InterContinental Hotels Group
  • Dave Scheine, Director of European Operations, Yelp
  • Tobias Tschötsch, Managing Director, Groupon
