Have any of you noticed all of the people who are posting information constantly, yet when you try to respond back to them, these same people don’t ever reply back?
I call these people Social Media Spammers – To me, these are people who broadcast every hour and think they are engaging people. Enough already. If you are posting content every hour and if you are foolish to post 3- 10 items at a time, you are a spammer. These people post information all of the time like they are some authority or book of quotes. The best thing to do is to unfriend/unfollow them. Most of the time, you will not even miss their posts.
This really should serve as a wakeup call for all of us. Here are some suggestions to help all of us from turning into Social Media Spammers.
Be Real
Being real means, being selective with your content. Post information of value. Don’t post what everyone else is posting.
Don’t Repeat the Latest News
Don’t just act like you are breaking the latest news, but offer your opinion or ask people a question about a recent news story. People who post information hot off the press are really getting old.
Listen More
This really is the way I am approaching this topic. Listen more, and respond to people who are posting information regarding the news. Be selective in who you are listening to.
Follow the right people and not everyone
People all about the number of followers they have will never delete people. I have decided to connect with people who follow fewer people who actually read and listen to people of influence.
Perform a self-check
Are you becoming a broadcaster? All of us can be boring or turn into broadcasters quite quickly. The best remedy is to start a conversation with someone and send a reply back to someone.
Hopefully, today’s message is more of a general statement to you and not something you need to act on or did not already know. It is more of a self-reminder for me as I try to improve my communication on social media sites with my followers and friends.
