An all-too-familiar scenario for many companies!
There is generally a huge push to get company profiles set up on social media but very quickly everything seems to come to a grinding halt, whether that’s due to lack of time or not quite knowing what to say.
The reason many companies find themselves in this situation is because they approach social media full throttle without a content plan. It’s effectively like taking to the stage with a potential world-wide audience, grabbing the mike and then thinking, “Oh cripes, what shall we say?”. Anyone who happened to stop by would probably leave, would be unlikely to swing by again and certainly wouldn’t tell their friends to pay you a visit.
Don’t go social without content
Your social media strategy is only as good as your content strategy. If you’ve got something interesting to say, people will read it, share it and comment on it. Social media and content go hand in hand: content is what gets people talking, social media is purely the channel you use to get it to them, where they want it, when they want it.
So what is the right type of content?
If you want your social media marketing activities to be successful, you need to publish content that is educational, solutions-based, fresh, high quality and original. The mantra I live by when writing content is this: “the less it is about you, the further it will travel”.
