Wouldn’t it be nice to have a safety score that indicates how much sensitive information we are putting on the social media networks? This app fulfills that need. While safety and security of information in the social media world is debatable, it hasn’t stopped American Express to enable people to buy with a tweet or a post.
American Express helps you buy with a social media post
Security and Privacy concerns not withstanding, American Express credits cards now make it easy for you to buy from within the social media networks with a tweet or a post. The models first started by Chirpify, account holders can now tweet #buy or the designated tweet to buy a product advertised on the network and bill that directly to their linked American Express credit card without going to the vendor’s website.
Get a safety score for your social media activities
A new application developed during Hackathon 2013 by Gabriel Velez and Obed Eugene can tell you if you are saying too much on social media. People who are not careful about their social accounts’ privacy settings can divulge great amounts of information through posting birth dates, addresses of friends, real-time photos and tweets with location information, and FourSquare check-ins.
The application generates a score on how frequently you post what kind of information and your account privacy settings to warn you if you are revealing too much.
Facebook is for Lists and Twitter is for News
A study conducted by Newswhip found that people share more list posts such as X ways to . . . or Y reasons you . . . on Facebook. On the other hand Twitter is a preferred social network for real news stories and sharing developing events. While BuzzFeed and Huffington Post ranked as the top sources for Facebook, BBC and Mashable grabbed the leading positions on Twitter.
