As September approaches, do your thoughts turn to your career and perhaps you start to think about exploring new opportunities? Perhaps you have even considered enhancing your online visibility using social media to help you stand out from the crowd?
I was recently speaking at a conference and met two people who have just found their next role using social media. So if you are looking for inspiration and tips on how to land ‘your next big gig’ through the art of publishing online, I hope you enjoy these podcast interviews.
And if you are thinking the age of the digital job search is just for those under thirty, think again. Earlier this year, ExecuNet reported in their 20th Annual Executive Job Market Intelligence Report that 67% of executives have actively worked to become more visible online. The survey included responses from 5,733 participants were surveyed in January 2012: 4,282 executives from North America and an additional 874 executives from outside North America whose average age was 51 with an average annual compensation (salary plus bonus) of USD $220,000.
Your digital footprint is an important element of your personal brand and reputation. Make sure that the content you share online that people will find connected to your social profiles reflects what you want to be known for.
If you are considering exploring new opportunities this Fall, take some time over the Summer to do a social reputation audit and tidy up your digital content streams.
You can listen to my interviews with Amy Jones who recently found her new role as Researcher with Manchester City Football Club through blogging and Bjoern Uhss who used social advertising to attract the attention of the hiring managers he was hoping to meet through the recruitment process for his role with Intuit.
