Nature’s Basket, India’s very own world food store from the house of Godrej, has given a chance to meet the Masterchef Australia judges Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris through a fun cooking standoff where contestants were chosen through a Facebook contest.

Godrej Nature’s Basket, India’s retailer for fine foods from across the world, is going places one careful step at a time. From catering to the exotic tastes that Indians have developed on their many trips abroad to catching them as they go shopping for gourmet foods in the many narrow and crowded lanes of Crawford Market in Mumbai or INA Market in Delhi, the brand has built a niche for gourmet food fans.

Recently, the brand had invited two of the most prominent international chefs to burst into the Indian television – Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris from Masterchef Australia, while the duo were on a OZ fest tour. The Masterchef’s visited the Mumbai and Delhi store in an exclusive event attended by well-known food personalities and food writers, of which three were shortlisted from a Facebook contest held earlier.

The simple contest asked fans what they would cook for Gary and George and three of the wackiest answers got a chance to cook for the celebrity chefs at the event. The three participants were then judged in a cooking standoff by Gary and George, where the winner walked away with a gift hamper from Nature’s Basket worth Rs. 4000 while the Runners Up got one worth Rs. 2500. Additionally, the winner received a signed copy of the book authored by Gary and George ‘Lantern Cookery Classics’.

Nature's Basket Masterchef Unplugged

With a variety of cheeses, spices, oils and wines from across the world to culinary workshops by renowned chefs and food experts, Nature’s Basket has been endearing itself even more to the high-spenders. And by associating with Masterchef Australia, the brand has given a shot to its USP.

But, what I liked best is the brand opening up its social doors. Hosting a contest with exclusive invites to an otherwise closed-door event will be good for the gourmet food fans and well as the brand.
