It’s a new year and every brand is setting goals and refining its social media strategy. Is your brand’s social content lacking in its luster or just lacking completely? Luckily, there’s still time and actionable things you can do immediately. Here are six tips to help jumpstart your social media with all the feels that you need to attract and engage followers even more in 2019.
SIGHT: Set your sight on finding authentic brand ambassadors.
Sometimes we can lose sight of what is closest to us when we have far-reaching goals in mind. Start the year by simply looking at your immediate internal team or company for inspirational leaders who can help set the tone and motivate others. They are the perfect people to be your content creators and brand ambassadors. Ask them to impart some wisdom as a guest writer. Grab them the next time you see them and do an impromptu interview and capture some quotes. Or ask them to help be a brand advocate for some of your content and gain new followers. If you look around, you will discover there are many passionate and loyal supporters of your brand, they can help you grow your social channels authentically.
SMELL: Attract more followers to your brand in bold new ways.
Smell is the only sense that affects your brain in two ways, through memory and emotion. It can create a vivid visual in your mind and remain lingering your heart. Keeping that in mind, find ways to communicate your brand’s values and beliefs and bring forth the heart of your brand. Perhaps feature some fun historical facts and photos about your brand to tell the story of how it all began. Aim to create content that will attract new followers and remind current followers why you’re the leader in your industry. Associating your brand with fond memories and exciting experiences will generate loyal and engaged followers.
TASTE: Authentically engage with your network and organically promote your brand.
Your taste bud is represented by your mouth and the sensory cells in the taste buds are renewed once a week. In the same sense, create a routine to feature innovative and thought-provoking content that connects back to your brand. When you provide quality content that people can enjoy regularly, your brand’s reputation will naturally grow and expand. Put in effort to create the kind of reputation and presence that you want. Be more assertive in promoting your brand’s presence at every event. Instead of being just another attendee, find opportunities to be a guest speaker, moderator, panelist or a sponsor. Don’t be afraid to cross-promote your social media channels. Chances are that if they like one channel, they will be interested in the others as well.

It is not just for fashionistas showing off their #ootd anymore. Plenty of corporate companies are showing their fun and aspirational side using Instagram. Perhaps your brand has a Linkedin but it’s inactive. There’s still a lot of value in using Linkedin as a way to show your brand’s interaction with its employees by highlighting a top employee, sharing a heart-warming customer service story, or educating people about the history of the brand and its founders.
HEARING: Take time to listen and provide more empathy than before.
Your ears allow you to listen. What are people saying about your brand? Every brand is selling something, whether tangible or intangible. Can you commit to be more responsive to your audience this year? Your followers will leave if you do not listen to the things that they are saying (or maybe not saying!) Make an effort to dive into your social media analytics. What are people liking, sharing, and commenting about? Take it to the next level in 2019 and try responding to negative comments and feedback. When you show customers that you’re not only listening but responding, it can greatly improve the issue.
6TH SENSE: Reach into your soul and dictate who you want to become.
We could have stopped at the 5 basic senses, but we’re going BIG in 2019! There is much mystery surrounding the 6th sense. It’s about understanding the x-factor that creates brand love and loyalty. We want to encourage brands to follow their north star and speak their own truths on social media more this year. Steer your brand in the direction that reflects the original vision and mission and create new content that is raw, authentic and difficult to mimic. Pinpoint what makes your brand more special than any other competitors and focus on providing that value proposition to your followers. Every. Single. Time.
