Publishing giant, Exchange4media popularly known as e4m, is revamping its logo for the new. Exchange4media is calling for new perspectives that break away from the generic elements of its existing logo, as the publishing house continues to strive towards growth and a possible global expansion. E4m has partnered with creative crowdsourcing platform, Talenthouse India in a logo redesign contest that will portray the brand in a new light. The grand prize winner will take home a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000, whereas 5 runners-up will receive a cash prize of Rs. 5000 each. However, the winning logo will be adopted as the official e4m identity only if it is liked by the brand.


Promotions on social media

While the contests on Talenthouse are hosted on the website, the social media channels of the platform are being leveraged to bring in more visibility. The contest rules for participation and guidelines for the design are found at the Talenthouse website, and a Facebook app on the Talenthouse India Facebook page also takes you to the said contest link, upon clicking on participate button. Presently, the Facebook community is made up of more than 96K fans, and along with the Talenthouse India Twitter page that has been tweeting about the contest to its 8K+ fans, the word seems to be well spread.

But, the good part is the social media promotions being carried out at the brand’s end, as most often brands partnering with Talenthouse don’t do that. E4m has been tweeting about the contest from its Twitter page that caters to more than 2K followers. The e4m Facebook page, with a strength of nearly 8K fans, has updated its cover page to inform about the logo redesign contest. However, I couldn’t find any other update having a link to the same. A link can serve for immediate call-to-action and increase in shares.

Crowdsourcing is undeniably the win-win formula of a democratic internet. While it reduces the cost of procuring new ideas, creative folks from anywhere in the world can compete on an equal platform. Beginning last year, Micromax had also undergone a logo redesign process, with the help of the Talenthouse platform. And when established players like e4m – who have been around for 12 years as the single point destination of information for the marketing, advertising and media professionals – choose to crowdsource for a new logo design, you know that crowdsourcing is here to stay.
