Lately, Twitter has seen a trend make it every now and then to the top 10 list. Intrigued by #HangoutwithFizz trending, I wondered whether it’s a Google Plus Hangout by Appy Fizz which would be a really interesting one to watch, if it were. But, it turned out to be just another Twitter campaign by Appy Fizz, the cool drink to hang out with from the house of Parle Agro, in a bid to promote the new TV commercial of the apple flavoured beverage.
Endorsed by actor Saif Ali Khan, Appy Fizz – the animated chilled out bottle you can be friends with – was shown hanging out with Saif and his friends for the first time last year in a TVC. The new TVC released recently features Saif and Appy Fizz chilling out on a sofa, while dreaming about dancing with a gang of girls to the title song from Saif’s movie ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’. The viewers are then invited to check out the website which provides more insights to hang out with Appy Fizz.
Creating social media buzz
The TVC has been widely promoted through social media and even launched exclusively for the Facebook fans prior to being aired on TV. The teaser campaign began with updates on the Facebook page of Appy Fizz, where the animated bottle invited fans to suggest creative places where Saif and Appy could hang out together using #SaifNFizzHangout.
The Twitter campaign was being driven through the pre-launch teaser on Facebook with cool prizes like iPods, Tabs, iPad Minis and headphones up for grabs. Post the TVC launch, the campaign is still picking up fizz as the grand prize is a surprise!
Recently, the brand did something similar for Frooti, its mango-flavoured drink, though on a much larger scale. The new TVC was launched through a teaser campaign on Twitter (#SRKLovesFrooti) where fans were asked why Shah Rukh loves Frooti with cool prizes in the contest. However, the Frooti TVC was also the first grand launch for Shah Rukh as brand ambassador, unlike Saif for Fizz.
Along with Bollywood actors, now brands are also relying on their popular movie songs as background scores for their TVCs. Well, we don’t know how far this helps Fizz as a drink to hang out with, but the teaser campaigns on Twitter are sure creating all the buzz.
