At the June 29 Oslo, Norway stop on his 2016 tour, Bruce Springsteen found an unexpected new friend and backup singer: a 4-year-old girl named Hope.

According to Thomas Andersson, who shared the story and videos on his Facebook page, Hope came to the concert with her mother and, because her mother wasn’t able to hold her up, Andersson and another man took turns putting Hope on their shoulders so she could see. It didn’t take long for The Boss to notice her.

Their first interaction came when he crossed the stage to present her with his harmonica. The look on his face is one of complete amusement, and when he returns to the other side of the stage, Hope gives him a thumbs-up and blows him a kiss.

Later during the show, as he was singing “Waitin’ on a Sunny Day,” Springsteen came back over to visit hope, this time pulling her up on stage. It wasn’t quite the way it went with Courteney Cox in the 80s in the “Dancing in the Dark” video…

… but it was even better because it was a four-year-old and it wasn’t staged.

He danced with Hope on the stage and then, after starting the chorus, turned the mic over to her. Suffice it to say that she blew everyone away — Springsteen included — with her performance.

Bruce held her up so that the crowd could cheer for her and she could see them cheering.

Oslo is the fifteenth city on the European leg of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s River Tour 2016, which is supporting the 2015 release of the Ties That Bind: The River Collection box set. The tour kicked off in Pittsburgh in January and traveled around the US before heading on to Europe in May. They return to the States in August and wrap up the tour in mid-September in Foxborough, Mass. at Gillette Stadium.
