Toy: Piñata Backpack

Inventors: Rebecca Bleau and Nicholas Cravotta

The Piñata Backpack is “a twist on the party piñata in the form of a backpack,” according to Broadway World. The game allows kids to chase the wearer of the backpack and get candy.

Jen Tan likes the funky and quirky designs and Dylan Lauren sees huge licensing potential. She also views it as a cool Halloween candy bag. Jim Silver doesn’t view it as a traditional toy and points out that it would require parental supervision. Lauren and Tan like the idea and both pass it to the Toy Box.

In the Toy Box, the kids are very impressed with the backpacks. Chasing the host, they catch him and successfully get the candy. Noah Ritter thinks the game is very fun, as does Sophia Grace Brownlee. She also thinks it would be fun to create a jingle to advertise the product. Noah Ritter worries, however, about how close the player needs to get to pull the string to release the candy. Ultimately, it does not make it to the final round.

Social Media Reacts to Piñata Backpack’s Appearance on “The Toy Box”

Hosted by “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet, “The Toy Box” helps inventors make their toy creation dreams become a reality. According to their website, the inventions are brought before mentors, including Dylan’s Candy Bar owner Dylan Lauren, toy guru Jim Silver and Pixar creative director of Consumer Products, Jen Tan. If they pass phase one, they then have the opportunity to face the ultimate toy-loving panel of judges: kids. The panel features Sophia Grace Brownlee, Aalyrah Caldwell, Toby Grey and Noah Ritter. The kids determine which toys make it to the finals and, ultimately, the one winning toy that will sold at Toys“R”Us.

A new episode airs each Friday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
