Toy: Grandmas2Share

Inventor: Marguerite Spagnuolo

Grandmas2Share are “multigenerational dolls that encourage family values,” according to ABC.

The mentors worry that they aren’t customizable and Jim Silver thinks the dolls need better representation. Dylan Lauren doesn’t like the design of the dolls, but Jen Tan sees the potential in the storytelling. Lauren does not pass it to the Toy Box, but Tan finds them charming and gives it the okay. Silver, despite having reservations, gives it the green light as well.

In the Toy Box, the kid judges like the doll and see its potential. Toby Grey, however, finds it a bit creepy and Noah Ritter doesn’t like that the dolls can’t stand all that well. He also doesn’t believe the accessories match that of a real grandma. Grey suggests making mom and dad dolls as well. Aalyrah Caldwell and Sophia Grace Brownlee like that the dolls have earrings. Ultimately, it does not make it to the finals.

Hosted by “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet, “The Toy Box” helps inventors make their toy creation dreams become a reality. According to their website, the inventions are brought before mentors, including Dylan’s Candy Bar owner Dylan Lauren, toy guru Jim Silver and Pixar creative director of Consumer Products, Jen Tan. If they pass phase one, they then have the opportunity to face the ultimate toy-loving panel of judges: kids. The panel features Sophia Grace Brownlee, Aalyrah Caldwell, Toby Grey and Noah Ritter. The kids determine which toys make it to the finals and, ultimately, the one winning toy that will sold at Toys“R”Us.

A new episode airs each Friday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
