A teacher has won the hearts of “Live with Kelly” fans everywhere. Richard Curtis won the chance on Friday morning to guest co-host with Kelly Ripa after going through a series of challenges.

According to ABC, Curtis is Philadelphia-area native and a teacher at Souderton High School. He had learned that he had made it to the top two yesterday, along with Dax Holt of California, who previously worked for TMZ. Curtis finally got the chance to sit in the coveted seat after winning the “Live with Kelly and You” contest.

Winning was not an easy feat, though. He had to engage in a series of hilarious challenges to prove that he could successfully guest co-host after initially submitting an audition tape. First, he had a little fun with the “Juju On That Beat” challenge:

Then, he had to read a tongue-twisting promo from the prompter in 30 seconds, all while eating peanut butter, while confetti fell and a smoke machine blew in his face.

Social media is now calling for Curtis to be Ripa’s permanent co-host. The celebrity frontrunners have included Anderson Cooper, Alec Baldwin, Rob Lowe and Fred Savage. The search began for a new co-host after Michael Strahan’s abrupt exit in May. Ripa has previously stated that she was blindsided by the exit of her co-host of nearly four years and Strahan overall has remained quiet on his relationship with his former “work wife.”
