On Monday Taylor Swift’s new single ‘Out of the Woods’ was teased with a 30-second clip, and shortly after that tease, the full song was released on iTunes for her millions of adoring fans.
The ‘Out of the Woods’ single has generated a lot of interest from fans after rumors circulated that it was written about One direction’s Harry Styles, Swift’s former boyfriend.
On her YouTube page on Monday Taylor Swift told her fans:
“This was a relationship where it was kind of living day to day, wondering where it was going, and if it was gonna go anywhere, if it was going to end the next day. It was a relationship where you kind of felt you were never standing on solid ground. And that kind of a feeling brings on excitement, but also extreme anxiety, and kind of a frantic feeling of wondering.”
Fans quickly began to upload the full song to YouTube, where it was pulled down almost immediately by the content provider. Apparently Swift and her team really want fans to purchase the song directly from iTunes because it makes its YouTube debut. After the videos were quickly pulled from the viral video platform, Swift sent out a tweet with an iTunes purchase link.

The song is already a hit among fans who have begun to release their own full versions of ‘Out of the Woods’ for their own YouTube fans. I’m personally a big fan of the cover by YouTube user callmekathleenn. Check it out here:
‘Out of the Woods’ and a bunch of other new music from Taylor Swift will be released on her upcoming album 1989. I’m curious to see if she keeps to any of her country cross over themed roots. So far her singles have been more Top 40 pop friendly.
‘Out of the Woods’ was co-written with Jack Antonoff of the band Fun, and it is the second straight single from “1989,” to shoot to the top of the iTunes download chart. The first single, “Shake It Off,” also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s pop charts, despite a lack of support form her former number one base — country radio.
