Stephen Colbert is making a “desperate attempt to get Trump’s disapproval” by taking out a “For Your Consideration” ad for the president’s newly revealed Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards. Hoping to be nominated for President Donald Trump’s awards, the “Late Show” host shared his “campaign” during Wednesday night’s episode.
“I’m really looking forward to the Most Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards of the Year, or as we like to call them, ‘The Fakies,’ Colbert said during his monologue. ‘Because nothing boosts your credibility like Donald Trump calling you a liar.’ To make sure he doesn’t get ‘snubbed,’ Colbert revealed his ‘For Your Consideration’ ad, which was put up on a billboard in Times Square.”
The “categories” included on Colbert’s “For Your Consideration” billboard include:
- Outstanding Achievement In Parroting George Soros’ Talking Points
- Best Sound Mixing
- Best Chex Mixing
- Least Breitbarty
- The Eric Trump Memorial Award for Disappointment
- Fakest Dishonesty
- Corruptest Fakeness
- Dishonest Corruption
- Smallest Button
The poster also features “fancy” laurels and random criticisms, including one from Trump in which the president called Colbert “a no-talent guy.”

Trump announced the Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards earlier this week on Twitter. “I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock,” Trump tweeted Tuesday. “Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!” It’s “unclear how the president intends to carry out the unprecedented gesture,” Politico reports.
The president has frequently criticized the news media. He has referred to outlets such as CNN, ABC and NBC as “fake news,” which he previously called “the enemy of the American People!” In November, he tweeted about hosting a contest that would feature a “fake news trophy” award.
