London shoppers were horrified to find a dress depicting 9/11 on a recent shopping outing. The dress shows the Twin Towers engulfed in flames, with planes and smoke placed into the brightly-colored background.

According to Yahoo Style, the dress was found on the $6 rack in Chrisp Street Market in London. The market’s trader called the design “terrifying,” according to the Sun, and said that there was no way he would sell that. He later handed it over to be destroyed.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed on 9/11. The dress is not the first time the horrors of that day have been depicted. Last month, a Texas mattress company aired a “Twin Tower sale” commercial just days before its 15 anniversary. The advertisement showed two employees falling into mattresses stacked like towers. Also last month, a Florida Walmart sparked backlash with their Coca-Cola display, which included soda boxes stacked to look like the Twin Towers with a “We Will Never Forget” sign hanging from their ceiling. The display was later replaced.

Social Media Reactions to 9/11 Dress

One user wrote on the photo on Facebook, “This is just disturbing. That anyone would think this was a good idea or that anyone would actually purchase this dress and then wear it out in public. Sickening!” Another user commented that they should be reported.

Twitter users reacted similarly, asking why anyone thought that was a good idea in the first place.
