The Ricky Martin death hoax posted on YouTube on Jan. 3 has upset fans and the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer himself.

The video claims that Martin died in a car accident on a freeway in Los Angeles. To make it more realistic, there is also someone making an official announcement from the sheriff’s department in Marin County, north of San Francisco. The video also shows a distressing image of a car wreck on a road appearing to be in another country. Obviously fake, the license plates are different and cars are driving on the opposite side of the road.

Martin responded to the death hoax by posting two photos from heaven on Sunday.

He wrote for one picture of a beach, “Hello from #heaven.”

Hello from #heaven. #Culebra #PuertoRico

In another he’s posing with the sunset.

The Washington Post reports that the beach image may be from Culebra, Puerto Rico, where he possibly has been vacationing for the holidays.

Ricky Martin has a lot to live for. He’s a father to 6-year-old twins boys, Matteo and Valentino, born via a surrogate. In a radio interview he did last September he talked about one of his sons asking if he came from the belly.

“‘Dad, was I in your belly?’ and I told him, ‘you were in my heart and you are still in my heart’,” Martin told Luisa Fernanda.
“So I explained further, because I couldn’t just leave it at that: ‘There was a woman that I adore with all my heart that helped me bring you into this world. She lent me her belly so that you could come and when you were born she put you in my arms.’ And he said ‘ah, ok’ and he kept playing,” the singer added.

He also addressed rumors that he had a daughter on the way.

“You have to be careful what you say because they asked me ‘would you like to have a daddy’s girl?’ and I said ‘of course’,” Martin said. “The next day they said ‘Ricky is going to be the father of a little girl!’”

The Ricky Martin death hoax video is really out of hand. It’s a good thing he has taken it with a grain of salt.

His newest album, “A Quien Quiere Escuchar,” drops next month.
