Prepare to be overcome by emotions by one little boy’s moving rendition of his fight song. Jeremiah Succar loves Rachel Platten’s hit-single “Fight Song” and has been using it as his own fight song since being diagnosed with cancer.
The 7 year old was diagnosed with “stage-four atypical rhabdoid teratoid, an aggressive, fast-growing tumor that occurs in the brain and spinal cord,” according to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles blog. Since his diagnosis in May, he has used Platten’s inspirational song as his personal anthem.

Jeremiah’s parents created the simple movement of #RachelMeetJeremiah on Instagram and it eventually spread across multiple platforms, including #PrayersforJeremiah, to where Platten herself received the message.

After working through the details, Platten decided to surprise Jeremiah at the hospital. Of course, he recognizes her immediately.
He even got to sing an adorable duet of “Fight Song” alongside Platten. Jeremiah’s courage shines through and his resiliency is revealed as he gently yet powerfully sings the words that have been such a source of strength and inspiration to him.
“Jeremiah loves “Fight Song”—he memorized the lyrics after three or four times of listening to it,” says Jerry Succar, Jeremiah’s father. “He used to sing it when he got a lot of headaches, but now he sings it in the morning, before bed and during shots he has to get,” the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles blog, wrote.
Jeremiah was so moved by her song that it also inspired him to sing and write his own music, an Instagram photo from Jeremiah’s father, reads.
Upon finishing his emotional duet, Jeremiah, who just finished his second round of chemotherapy, has only one request: “Can I have your autograph?”
Naturally, Platten was more than happy to oblige, going one step further to take photographs with him.
