Pentatonix singer Kirstin Maldonado is officially entering the land of sequins and glitter in 2018. The lone female vocalist in the hit a capella group, who pursued a solo project earlier this year, will be strapping on her fiercest pair of red-hot heels in preparation for her Broadway debut in “Kinky Boots.”

Entertainment Weekly reports that Maldonado will be playing Lauren, the unlucky-in-love assembly line worker who falls for Charlie Price, the musical’s protagonist. “Being on Broadway has been my ultimate bucket list goal since I was 8 years old, so I’m so excited to join such an incredible cast to share this special story,” she said in a statement. Joining Maldonado will be Scissor Sister frontman Jake Shears, who will make his Broadway debut in the role of shoe factory owner Charlie Price—who saves his family’s failing business with the help of the fabulous, stiletto-wearing drag queen, Lola.

Maldonado, who launched a solo career in May under the moniker kirstin™, will join the cast Feb. 2 and play her last performance April 8. Shears will take on the role of Charlie Price starting Jan. 8 and remain in the role through April 1. The Scissor Sisters singer celebrated the role on Twitter, writing, “I couldn’t be more excited about doing Kinky Boots on Broadway!! It’s going to be a delicious challenge.” J. Harrison Ghee will also be reprising his role as Lola next year.

The cast currently stars Stark Sands as Charlie Price, Billy Porter as Lola, Delaney Westfall as Lauren, in addition to Daniel Stewart Sherman, Shannon O’Boyle, Marcus Neville and others. The Cyndi Lauper musical won six awards, including Best Musical, at the 2013 Tony Awards.

The hit musical made its debut on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York in 2013.
