“Hamilton” continues to grow into more of a phenomenon every day. If you can’t possibly get enough of the Tony Award-winning musical, then you’re in luck. PBS will be airing a documentary all about the making of the hit musical and the first teaser trailer has finally been released.
The first look at the documentary takes audiences to the room where it happens with interviews from creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, Jimmy Fallon and even President Barack Obama.
The documentary film will give fans an inside look at the revolutionary musical, which took home 11 Tony Awards this year. Miranda first performed “Alexander Hamilton” at the White House’s Poetry Jam. Obama recalled that when he announced he would be performing a rap about Hamilton, he thought, “Well, good luck with that.”
Miranda and the “Hamilton” cast have since gone on to visit the White House and even engage in a little freestyle rap with the president. “I knew that Hamilton was going to change my life,” Miranda says in the teaser trailer. And indeed it has. It has opened musical theater up to entirely new audiences by telling “the story of America then, told by America now.”
“Hamilton’s America” airs Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. on PBS.
