Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie will be entering the Land of Lola when he makes his Broadway debut in “Kinky Boots” this summer. Urie will star as Charlie Price, who is tasked with saving the family shoe business—and succeeds with the help of a fabulous drag queen.

“I’m very excited to announce that I am joining the cast of ‘Kinky Boots’ this summer on Broadway,” Urie said in a video statement. “That’s crazy to say because this has been on my bucket list for the longest time and it really is a dream come true. I’m just so incredibly excited to be joining ‘Kinky Boots’ on Broadway. That’s wild.” He added, “Plus you guys get to see me in those heels now, so that’s pretty cool!”

Urie later wrote on Instagram that the news was the “best start to a birthday so far.”

Previous actors in the role of Charlie Price include Stark Sands, Andy Kelso, Aaron C. Finley. The cast currently features Killian Donnelly as Charlie, J. Harrison Ghee as Lola, Taylor Louderman as Lauren, in addition to Daniel Stewart Sherman, Shannon O’Boyle, Marcus Neville and Sean Patrick Doyle. The Cyndi Lauper musical has won six Tony Awards.

Urie will star in “Kinky Boots” from May 26 through August 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York.
