The New York Post is facing backlash for its cover on President Donald Trump’s meeting with Kim Kardashian West. In its Thursday cover story, the newspaper mocked Kardashian West as “Kim Thong Un” and referred to their meeting on prison reform as “the other big a– summit.” The cover is now being slammed by social media as “distasteful,” “disgusting” and “sexist.”
The cover features a photo of Trump and Kardashian West in the Oval Office with the headline “Trump Meets Rump.” The same tone carried into the story itself. “It was the commander and cheeks! Kim Kardashian strutted into the Oval Office on Wednesday for a sit-down with President Donald Trump to discuss criminal justice issues — including an imprisoned drug offender she discovered on Twitter,” the Page Six report reads. “The reality queen donned high heels and an all-black ensemble for the highly anticipated White House meeting.”
On Wednesday, Kardashian West met with the president to discuss prison reform and urge Trump to pardon Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old-great-grandmother who “is currently serving a life sentence for a first-time, nonviolent drug offense,” according to Vox. She has been in prison for more than two decades and Kardashian West has been advocating for her freedom for the past several months. She met with Trump to discuss that possibility.
The reality television star later thanked Trump on Twitter for meeting with her. “I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense,” she tweeted. “We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she —and so many like her—will get a second chance at life.”

Y’all really gonna make me go to bat for Kim K, eh?
“The Other Big Ass Summit”
Just in case readers interpret this double entendre to be referring to their common personality traits, you reference Kim’s butt 3 more times.
This is too trite, even for you all. https://t.co/lRRhqweZgs

Instead of objectifying her THREE times, how about you enlarge that tiny box in the corner and make the cover about the story, not her body. https://t.co/7RESsxpQXq

Kim Thong Un. Oh because shes a woman and a clothing item reduces her to a sexualized object. Thanks nypost, classy.

woman uses her considerable celebrity influence to talk directly to the president about important and vital prison reform@nypost: yeah but did you see her bum???https://t.co/RpzjFHEnLl

This seems very mean spirited against someone who was just trying to advocate for criminal justice reform https://t.co/Cr7hG5iOAX

You know, I’m not a fan of @KimKardashian, not even a tiny bit, but she’s trying to do what she thinks is right and will help people in the long run. I can respect that.

I don't care for the Kardashians but this is over the top. She is still a person.

This is the most disgustingly sexist cover of all time. https://t.co/66YaLzp1NY

It’s 2018 and the NY Post is referencing a woman, trying to use her voice to do good, by a body part. Disrespectful and distasteful. Do better. https://t.co/7rS60gd4TO

Disgusting headline, @nypost. @KimKardashian was meeting with President Trump about a critical issue and you lead with her ass?
This is unacceptable sexism. No woman deserves this.
Thank you for using your platform to raise awareness for the issue of prison reform, Kim. https://t.co/P43Vq2mPLR
