Mewtwo will return in Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U as DLC. The veteran fighter made his first appearance in Super Smash Bros Melee, but wasn’t in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Smash 4 marks the return of the psychic Pokemon.
If you purchase both the 3DS and Wii U version of Super Smash Bros, you will be able to download Mewtwo for free. He is still being developed, and won’t be ready until Spring 2015.
You can watch his reveal below.
Mewtwo is a psychic Pokemon who might be the hardest one to catch in Pokemon Red and Blue. After the player defeats the Elite Four, they get one chance to catch Mewtwo. Unless the player saves his Master Ball, they’re for a battle that can take up to an hour.
Mewtwo is also the primary antagonist in ‘Pokemon: The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back’, where his origins are discovered. He also manages to kill the hero of the film Ash, but he gets revived.
At the end of the movie, the destructive Pokemon becomes a good guy, and says one of the best quotes in family film: “I see now that the circumstances of one’s birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.”
Mewtwo is making his second appearance in the Super Smash Bros series. His moveset at the moment is unknown, but you can expect it to be based on the Pokemon’s psychic abilities.
Mewtwo in Melee has primary moves like shooting a giant energy ball, teleportation, and he also has some strong throws. With that being said, he didn’t scale too well fighting against characters like Marth and Fox, who would ultimately gimp him.
Project M, a community created mod for Super Smash Bros Brawl, also has a version of Mewtwo. This iteration of the Pokemon was made much stronger than the Melee counterpart, in which Mewtwo is actually competitive.
Mewtwo is back in Super Smash Bros as DLC. Get ready to blast Pikachu in the face with a psychic ball of energy Spring 2015.
